Response to Northern Ireland Office Proposals for Dealing with the Past

As noted in our previous post, members of the ‘Lawyers, Conflict & Transition’ team have been working to develop Model Legislation for the Dealing with the Past elements of the Stormont House Agreement.

This is a collaborative QUB Business Alliance Project between QUB School of Law and the Committee on the Administration of Justice (CAJ), led by Professor Kieran McEvoy.

This work has been greatly assisted by insights from our international field research in Cambodia, Chile, Israel, Palestine, Tunisia and South Africa (in particular reflections on various models of truth and information recovery, archiving, and prosecution).

Professor Louise Mallinder has recently posted a blog on the recently published NIO proposals for the Independent Commission on Information Retrieval http://rightsni.org/2015/10/independence-inadmissibility-and-information-verification-in-the-independent-commission-on-information-retrieval-proposals-guest-post-by-professor-louise-mallinder/

Dr Anna Bryson has likewise posted her reflections on the proposals for the Oral History Archive:
